About
I have loved old people all my life and to my surprise, I am now an elder myself.
I am a clinical psychologist and family therapist whose early work and research focused on college students and the treatment of eating disorders. Fifteen years ago I refocused my clinical work on the treatment of elders and their families. My self-designed educational program included one year of work in a nursing home and many courses on working with older adults.
Five years ago I co-founded Amherst Neighbors, a village community focused on helping elder adults age in place with the support of a community of peers.
I also write and conduct workshop on aging. I have done several workshops on “Aging with Joy,” and an upcoming workshop is entitled “Desire Doesn’t Retire: Exploring Intimacy and Connection in Later Life.” I write an on-line blog entitled “Positively Joyful Aging,” and am a contributor to the online blog “Sixty and Me.”
