Synchronous Live Interactive Webinars

Synchronous learning is interactive, two-way online or distance education that happens in real time with a teacher (e.g., a live interactive online webinar with Zoom). In order to meet continuing education requirements, you must attend 100% of the live synchronous CE course LIVE. Attendance is taken via the webinar software (e.g., Zoom)

Asynchronous Courses

Asynchronous learning occurs virtually online and through prepared resources, without real-time teacher-led interaction. In order to meet CE requirements, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Watch or listen to 100% of the course
  2. Successfully pass the post-test (70% and above is passing, 3 attempts max)
  3. Complete the program evaluation and attestation

Sometimes professionals call Continuing Education courses “Continuing Education Units” or “CEUs”; this term is actually a misnomer, and the CE approval bodies are concerned about professionals possibly feeling misinformed by the word ‘unit’ since some professional bodies consider a ‘unit’ to include 10 hours of associated course work.

Our CE approval bodies require us to use the term “Continuing Education Credit” (CEC) or “Continuing Education Hour” (CEH); every ‘credit hour’ equals 60-min of coursework.

In sum:

CE credits, 1 hour = 1 credit. This is the system used by APA and all APA-approved sponsors.

CE units, 10 hours = 1 credit.

Please check with your state licensing board to confirm which type of credits are required.

Board requirements frequently change; as such, it’s recommended that you contact your board to ensure that your continuing education activities satisfy your specific license/certificate requirements. If your state’s license or certificate type is not listed on our website, it’s recommended that you contact your board directly to clarify if they accept CMHA’s CE approvals for CE credit. Please note that some state boards require topic-specific coursework; though your state board may accept our CE approvals, we may not have the appropriate coursework to satisfy all of your board’s specific topic requirements.

A score of 70% or above will earn a passing grade.

Yes, you are granted 3 attempts at the post-test. If you do not successfully pass after 3 attempts, you are no longer eligible for CE credits for that particular course.

Partial credit will not be provided. Individuals must complete the required coursework in its entirety, complete the associated post-test with a passing grade, and program evaluation and attestation to earn CE credit.

Continuing Education requirements only allow you to complete each course one time and receive the associated CE certificate. You are welcome to review a specific course (e.g., listen to the audio, re-watch a video) multiple times, however, a new, subsequent certificate will not be issued.

On-demand workshops can be paused, exited, and returned to as many times as you like. You can do it all in one sitting if you would like to, but you are by no means required to do so.

No, on-demand workshop registrations do not expire. Once you register for one, it is tied to your account indefinitely. If you wanted to receive CE credit for the same on-demand course in different licensure renewal periods, however, you would have to contact us to re-register for the course.
