About
Hi! I’m Weston. I’m here to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people over 50 forge new paths as they cope with the losses, changes, and disappointments that come with getting older. My clients take pride in what they have accomplished in life. They have coped with the stresses of coming out, gender-affirming transition, building full lives while facing challenges and opportunities as LGBTQ+ people. Though they have worked hard, learned to adapt, and even thrived at times despite the haters, as they get older life is still hard.
I am focused on the needs of LGBTQ+ people as they age. Many of the clients I have worked with did not come in due to concerns about their sexual orientation or gender identity. They were dealing with relationship loss, health changes, caregiving for a loved one, or adjusting to retirement. Even so, they often remarked how it was helpful to talk to someone who understood the unique complexity of being an LGBTQ+ person in this world, and how that showed up in their life circumstances. To our work together, I bring my expertise in LGBTQ+ aging and mental health, and just as my clients bring expertise in their own life, experiences, and needs. Together, we can work to build a path forward that feels right at this phase of life.
I have 15 years of experience helping people. From community mental health, grant-based clinics, community health centers, nursing homes, private medical clinics, and VA hospitals, I have worked with a wide range of people, most of them over age 50, with a wide range of concerns. I have been honored to sit with people as they adjust to some of the intangible and intractable situations in their life, such as terminal illness diagnosis, cognitive changes, loss of employment, death of loved ones, and ends of relationships. Yet, I believe purpose and fulfillment are not out of reach, at any age. Imagine rebuilding connection, finding community, being kinder to yourself. I’d love to help you get there.
