I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who specializes in working with older adults. We all know there are special challenges and distinct needs that come with the aging process. I’ve worked with older adults and their families both in the medical and mental healthcare systems. My education and years of experience has equipped me to work with those who live with life-altering and chronic medical conditions, fear of losing their autonomy and needing to know what options are available and how to strengthen family communication during these stressful times. Depression, loneliness, anxiety, adjustments, rumination…. these all impact the quality of your life, especially if you find yourself in the midst of loss and grief.
Not only is my approach to therapy to provide empathetic listening, validation and guided reflection, but I also administer appropriate assessment tools, psychoeducation and resources that fit your needs and concerns.
My approach to therapy is person-centered. We will focus primarily on solutions to your current difficulties, existing strengths and interests which will be utilized as a framework for growth. We can meet virtually or if you prefer, we can just talk over the phone. That will be up to you. At our first session I will complete what is called a "psychosocial assessment" which is term for just asking a lot of questions so I can get to know you better. In addition, I will answer questions that you may have for me. If you decide we are a good fit, then we can meet as often or as little as you like. It will be up to you.
